Awareness

What do we understand by awareness and why is it necessary?

Awareness means for us: treating each other with respect and appreciation. We aim to create spaces where everyone can feel comfortable – free from discrimination, harassment, and violence. Unfortunately, such issues also occur in club and cultural spaces. That’s why we say clearly: No sexism, no racism, no queerphobia, no misogyny, no ableism – there is no place for any of that here. Awareness is our way of actively addressing these problems and creating an open space where everyone can feel welcome.

How we work:

Our awareness team is present at every event. You can recognize us by our blue wristbands and the word "Awareness" on our backs. Feel free to approach us directly – via the bar staff, at the entrance, or at the Awareness Point.

We also have an Awareness Room: a quiet, low-stimulation space where you can take a moment to breathe – and if you wish, you can receive support there as well.

Awareness Availability:

If you don’t feel comfortable approaching us directly or have any spontaneous questions, you can also reach us via the Awareness phone number.

We’re available during events at 01516 / 4695488 – and also outside of events on Tuesdays from 12 to 3 PM.

Information about our restrooms:

We want everyone to feel comfortable with us. That’s why we offer two types of restrooms:

Gender-neutral restrooms: For everyone, regardless of gender.
FLINTA restroom:* For women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans*, and agender individuals.

Crisis hotlines

Crisis situations can affect anyone, and it is often difficult to find a way out alone. In Thuringia, and especially in the Erfurt area, there are numerous support centers that can assist you during difficult times. Whether you need mental health support, are in an acute emergency, or simply want someone to listen – here you will find help resources:

What we ALL can do

Looking out for each other:
Respect other people’s boundaries and privacy. No means no – and only a clear yes means yes. If you feel someone is uncomfortable, ask them or get support. You don’t have to handle it alone – we’re here for you.

Don’t forget to drink:
Remember to drink water regularly. You can get tap water at the bar or from the sinks in the bathrooms. Don’t accept drinks you didn’t order yourself, and don’t leave your drinks unattended.

Don’t look away – set boundaries:
If you notice someone feeling uncomfortable or being harassed: carefully check in or bring in our team. Even after the event, you can reach out to us – whether you witnessed something or were directly affected: awareness@kalifstorch.com

Believe those affected:
If someone confides in you that something happened: listen, take it seriously, and support the person. Often, just being present and listening already helps a lot.

Getting home safely:
When leaving, make sure you get home safely. Arrange to go home together, let someone know, or form carpools. If there’s no other way, talk to our team – in some cases, we can cover the cost of a taxi.
