The 90s, 2000s, and 2010s made hip hop the world’s leading genre up to this day. The turn of the millennium marked the digital age and, in pop culture terms, brought forth the first so-called “Noughties” megastars. Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Pharrell, Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Snoop, the Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Lil Wayne, Drake, Beyoncé, Kendrick, A$AP Rocky, and many others catapulted hip hop straight into the mainstream. Y2K fashion, sound, and style are simply one of a kind.
Who doesn’t celebrate that? Swaggy, bouncy, and danceable beats with sing-along hooks, USB MP3 players, burned mixtape CDs, and totally mismatched outfits. Colorful, a bit flashy, wildly patterned, highly revealing. We all love the style: baggy pants, low-rise jeans with crop tops, bandeau tops, tinted sunglasses, and short cardigans. Nostalgic yet futuristic – and sometimes walking the fine line between tacky and stylish.
At DEJAVU, we bring back the uncompromising sound of the 2000s and 2010s and return the vibe of that era to the club.
