The ’90s, 2000s, and 2010s made hip hop the world’s leading genre to this day. The turn of the millennium marked the digital age and, culturally speaking, brought forth the first true megastars of the so-called “Noughties.”
Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Pharrell, Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Snoop, Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Lil Wayne, Drake, Beyoncé, Kendrick, ASAP Rocky, and many others brought hip hop firmly into the mainstream.
Y2K fashion, sound, and style are simply unique. Swaggy, bouncy, and danceable beats with sing-along hooks, USB MP3 players, burned mixtape CDs, and completely randomly thrown-together outfits. Colorful, a bit flashy, wildly patterned, and extremely revealing. We all love the style: baggy pants, low-rise jeans over crop tops, bandeau tops, sunglasses with colored lenses, and short cardigans. Nostalgic, yet futuristic, sometimes teetering on the fine line between tacky and stylish.
At DEJAVU, we unapologetically revive the sounds of the 2000s and 2010s and bring the vibe of that era back to the club.
