Christoph Umbeck, better known by his stage name "UMSE," has been running this marathon for quite some time now. Between 2005 and 2025, he released a total of eleven records, including three EPs and eight albums. Sometimes it was a concept album like Rheinisches Blatt, other times it was simply Kunst für sich ("Art for Its Own Sake"), or he went Durch die Wolkendecke ("Through the Cloud Cover")—just to name a few. Over these 20 years, UMSE has collaborated with a number of notable names in the music scene, including Megaloh, Aphroe, Afrob, and Masta Ace.
After UMSE’s collaboration with legendary producer Nottz in 2020, which led to the album UNO, he once again dove deeper into beat production and sampling. The result was Séparée, a record he fully produced on his own in 2022. Music, lyrics, design coordination, cover artwork, and videos—all handled by UMSE himself, as he’s been releasing his music independently since 2021, with only distribution support from Groove Attack.
Now, in 2025, his brand-new and ninth album Immunsystem drops—once again fully self-produced in his home studio. Through his refined rap style, carefully selected samples and the way he flips them, dry drums, and punchy bass lines, UMSE has created a unique sonic world that picks up right where Séparée left off in 2022. It's that unmistakable, uncompromising, and fresh UMSE sound, reflecting even more facets of his taste, life, and character. The featured guests speak for themselves.
